Where's Jeff? A Voter Asks Some Very Important
Questions Dear Editor, Where's Jeff? Before the primary Jeff King buzzed all over District 12 garnering votes but since his primary win he has been pretty scarce. Oh you might see him at some function asking people if they will put a sign in their yard but personal contact with the voters on a one on one basis has ceased. There is more to campaigning than key sign placements. Has Mr. King become so arrogant, thinking that he has already won the election that he has forgotten this? Mr. King seems to forget that he has a strong opponent in Jim George that he still has to face in the general election. Mr. King is seldom seen during the week and most people know the reason why. It is because he is a lawyer busy working for the law firm of Lathrop and Gage in Kansas City, Missouri and is only in Independence during the weekends. It is really sad that Mr. King, just to further his political career, purchased a home in Independence just to run for representative in the district. It is very deceptive and creates an injustice to the voters. I read, shortly after the primary, where candidate Jim George offered to meet with Mr. King in an open forum to discuss the issues. To my knowledge Mr. King has never accepted the invitation and I have to wonder why. Is it because Mr. King has no issue stands other than those he borrows from other candidates? I have talked to a lot of people in the district from different towns as well as Independence and they all tell me the same thing, that Jim George has personally come to their door to speak with them but they have never seen Mr. King. I don't know about other people but as for me I will be voting for Jim George on November 7th. I want a representative that works and lives in the district. I want a representative that truly cares about the people. I know that I will never have to ask, "Where's Jim?" Because he will be easy to find when he is needed.
