Why Do I Live In Kansas? A picture can paint
a thousand words People ask me all the time, "Why do you live in Kansas with all those tornadoes?" The first thing to understand is this, our tornado season is only three months long. Secondly most tornados never come in contact with the ground. Those tornados that do touch down do so in rural areas for only a few moments with very little, if any, damage to personal property. The tornado's most people think about are the dramatic ones that hit large urban areas or act out of the norm. Why do I live in Kansas? Because her rivers are the veins that carry her waters which are my life blood. Her rolling hills transform my body. Her vast plains are the manuscript that my story is told on. Her fertile fields nourish my soul. Her wildlife is my heartbeat, which sustains me. Her endless skies my canvas on which I paint my spirit so that it may roam forever free. I was brought forth from her rich soil and I shall one day return to her rich soil. Why do I Love Kansas? Well if you still do not know then check out these photos I took of the springtime storm that skirted Independence on March 12, 2006 and then you might begin to understand.
“The Public Servant works for the people. You do not make promises to your
boss that are beyond your power to keep and expect to hold your position.”
