Answering Questions
on Kansas Economy
Voter wants answers
if Candidate Wants Vote.
01/15/06
Dear Sir,
Received your invitation to your wine
social. I am returning it. I am a Democrat, if you want my vote you need to
answer some questions first....
Dear Friend,
You asked some straight forward questions and I will give you straight forward
answers.
Q: “What are you going to do about high energy costs? Natural gas, electric,
gasoline.”
A: We must make use of more alternative energy sources. For instance windmill
generated electricity and ethanol. Many electric generating plants are using
natural gas to power their turbines this drives up the cost of electric and
natural gas as the resource is depleted. Wind generated energy is a cheap, clean
renewable resource as is the grain used to manufacture ethanol. As our
dependency on fossil fuels lessons so will the cost of these fuels. We must also
investigate and put a stop to price gouging by the oil companies. There is no
practical reason for gas prices to be so high except for greed. They must be
made to understand through heavy fines and sanctions that they cannot continue
to get richer at the expense of the consumer. There is nothing wrong with anyone
making a profit on their business but to make an 80 Billion dollar profit in
your first quarter and claim that you need to raise fuel prices is out of line
and the oil companies must be made to answer for things like that.
Q: “What about companies in Kansas hiring illegal immigrants?”
A: We must make it unprofitable for companies to hire illegal immigrants. If
companies know that they will face very heavy penalties if they hire illegal
immigrants then they will stop hiring them.
Q: “Illegal immigrants. How are you going to put a stop to it in Kansas?”
A: This goes hand in hand with the last question you asked. If companies are no
longer hiring illegal immigrants then soon there will be no jobs available for
them and it will no longer be worth the illegals time to try and work in Kansas.
But other States must also implement programs that access penalties against
companies in their States that hire illegals. States must also stop letting
illegal immigrants collect from State funded programs. If it is not profitable
for illegals to come to this country they will stop coming. Closing the borders
is a job for the federal government and the border States. Closing the job
market to illegals is a job for the rest of us. One other thing that we must do
is educate the general public and get them to understand that they must get
involved. That they must report illegal immigrants because they threaten the
economy and cause a weaker job market.
Q: “Jobs?”
A: The problem is not a lack of jobs it is getting people to work those jobs.
There are plenty of jobs out there for those who want to work unfortunately some
people find it easier to live off the system then to work. When social welfare
was created it was meant to be a way for people to have temporary help while
they got back on their feet. Now it has become a way of life for millions. We
must take away the incentive not to work and give then the incentive to work.
How can this be accomplished? In two ways, first the State must set limitations
on how long a physically and mentally able individual may collect welfare
monies. Next companies must add better benefits and wages for their employees.
Multi-National companies with hundreds of thousands of employees should not be
allowed to work a person 38 hours a week, call them part time help and not pay
benefits. It’s irresponsible and it’s wrong. The work force is there, as I
stated we must give them a reason to work. No more free ride and better wages
and benefits would accomplish this.
Q: “Illegal Drugs? Southeast Kansas.”
A: I have a very simple solution concerning illegal narcotics. If a person is
caught in the possession of a significant amount of an illegal substance or
caught in the act of manufacturing, selling or distributing an illegal substance
the penalty should resemble the penalties handed down for murder. They should
receive a life sentence with no possibility of parole. There should also be
stiffer penalties and longer prison terms for lesser drug related offenses
followed by mandatory community service at the end of the sentence. It all goes
back to the same thing I have stated earlier in this letter. You must make it so
that it is no longer worth while for these people to break the law but you also
must remove the vermin from the people they prey on.
I would like you to know that I do talk to God and I thank him for all the
blessings he has given me and my family on a daily basis. Unlike my opponent I
do not claim that God came to me and personally told me to run. I am running
because I have a strong sense of right and wrong and I could not stand by and
watch the people of this district continue to get the short end of the stick. I
was raised in a single parent household and we were dirt poor! My mother worked
2 jobs to make ends meet and at one point commuted 120 miles a day just to have
a job that gave her benefits for us children. I have worked hard all of my life
for everything I have given to my family. For about a year in the early 1980s I
had to collect medical benefits from the State and feed my family with food
stamps due to a severe motorcycle accident I was involved in. However, as soon
as I was physically able I returned to work for the support my family. I will be
the first one to admit that I have no experience as a Representative but then
neither did anyone else when they were first elected to the position.
I would indeed appreciate your vote but I do not want you to vote for me because
I am a Democrat . I want you to vote for me because you feel in your heart that
I am the right person to Represent you in Topeka. Vote your heart, not your
party!
Sincerely,
Jim George
